Who we are

Tools for Self Reliance (Northampton), or ‘Tools’ for short, is primarily a Charity which provides facilities that enables disabled and disadvantaged people to do something which not only gives them the satisfaction of using their time in a useful and worthwhile manner and at the same time helping other disadvantaged people.

‘Tools’, which has been running as a charity since 1997, accepts from donors second-hand tools from all trades, machines, bicycles, garden tools and equipment, etc. which our volunteers refurbish into an ‘as good as new’ condition. Each volunteer works at his own speed and within his own ability under the guidance of the Workshop Supervisor, his assistant and other volunteers/trustees.

We now have, on average, 60 disadvantaged volunteers attending one or more of our workshop sessions each week with the help of 10 voluntary helpers.
